Every last one of us shares certain needs ... the three most basic are Food, Clothing and Shelter ...

The West Ohio Food Bank will deliver about six and a half million pounds of food this year to about 170 agencies, shelters, soup kitchens and pantries in our 11 county service area. While that sounds impressive, our need is about 21.5 million pounds of food. What we are looking for are partners who will make it one of their top priorities to help us meet that 15 million pound shortfall.

By the generosity of some major food producers, much of the food we need is available for free if we can pay for the shipping. So the bottom line is that we need about $600,000.00 to have the necessary food trucked here. That works out to about four cents per pound for shipping.

While it's highly unlikely that any one individual will provide that much money, it doesn't make the goal unattainable. So how do you eat an elephant? Answer, one bite at a time. Your partnership with the West Ohio Food Bank can take a bite out of this problem

What the West Ohio Food Bank needs are partners who are willing to donate a portion of our need, and you become the solution. If we can find 600 businesses, organizations or individuals who are willing to commit one thousand dollars the problem is solved. Maybe it will take 1,000 businesses who will share six hundred dollars to become the solution. Possibly 2,000 individuals, who can contribute three hundred dollars over the next year, allow us to solve the issue of hunger in Paulding, Van Wert, Mercer, Seneca, Wyandot, Shelby, Hardin, Auglaize, Putnam, Hancock, and Allen counties. Some can do more and we ask that they would. Some may not be able to give at all and we would ask them to share this information with others.

This year commit to doing something good at home. Commit to eliminating hunger in your own back yard.
